The Urban School of San Francisco, es-tablished in 1965, is an independent academic high school in four contiguous buildings located in the city’s Haight-Ashbury district. The school was founded on the principle that the City is a living laboratory for its students. SMWM completed a master plan for the school in 1990 and a new classroom building in 1994.

The newly expanded campus would support increasing enrollment and the growth of its science and arts curriculum.

The new building celebrates its urban context as well as the academic mission of the School.
